IMAGINE AN ISLAND

Who wants to travel to an island when you can make up a new one? Come to our foundation and imagine a new island based on the smallests details that forms it: bright and little stones that you find walking at the seashore, winding seaweeds that move graciously, dancing trees to the rhythm of the gentle breeze, wild plants that grow caothically… any of these things will be useful as a source of inspiration in order to create our own paintings.

Captura AD

The blind dancer Joan Casaoliva presents Variable Mesuresa performance on the ongoing exhibition ACTE 39: Antoni Abad. measure X measure where the dancer relates to the Nivell Zero exhibition space using different sensory strategies. Because of his blindness he explores the space using alternative measurement parameters and also experiment with a new ones on the basis of his own body and using the language of dance. This action is conceived as a statement on visual disability but also deconstructs the stigmas associated whit it. There is audio-description system by Llorenç Blasi in order to make the performance accessible for visual impaired people, but at the same time this element offers a different approach to the action that challenges our own spectator role.

Joan Casaoliva (Barcelona, 1966) is a blind dancer, actor and performer. He started to practise dance after losing his vision, guided by the choreographer and dancer Jordi Cortés. He belongs to Liant la troca collective from 2013 and has participated at different shows such Sin contacto or El último. He also has collaborated in Jordi Cortés’ Fuck-ing-Progress dance show and has worked with many different dancers and choreographers such Alberto Velasco, Marta Carrasco or Carolina Alejos from El Mur dansa, in Espais Cecs initiative.

Variable Measures is a performance by Joan Casaoliva with the collaboration of Antoni Abad and the participation of Llorenç Blasi

How many hands fit in a body? How many feet do we need to measure a leg? In this family workshop the artist Antoni Abad encourage us to explore ourselves using alternative measurement parameter. We will find out that we don’t need the metre, the ruler, nor the right triangle, to take the measure of things. Our own body will be the reference to relate to each other and with the world around.

Loop 2018. Domestic and Urban Landscapes

Fundació Suñol hosts an exhibiton organized by LOOP and In Between Art Film. On the occasion of its first collaboration with LOOP, In Between Art Film presents a video selection curated by Paola Ugolini, featuring works by international artists that variously deal with domestic architecture and the urban space. From the cold architecture of contemporary cities to the private dimension of a house, all works put forth the idea of the home as the “epidermis of the human body” – to say it with Frederick Kiesler’s. Furthermore, the chosen videos offer an overview of contemporary moving image creation, while they present a coherent aesthetics to the films produced by In Between Art Film. Formally launched in 2012 by Beatrice Bulgari, In Between Art Film is a film production company that explores the shifting boundaries between contemporary art, video art and cinema.

In Between Art Film, formally launched in 2012 by Beatrice Bulgari, is a film production company dedicated to providing artists, filmmakers, and directors with the possibility of freely exploring the uncertain territories of moving images.

In Between Art Film has been supporting leading institutions and promoting important cultural partnerships including: vice versa Italian Pavilion, 55th International Art Exhibition of Venice Biennale (Venice, 2013); Biennale de l’Image en Mouvement (Centre d’Art Contemporain Geneva, 2016); Miart (Milan 2016 – 2017-2018); Tate Film (London 2017); Maxxi Videogallery (Rome, 2017); Il Mondo Magico Italian Pavilion, 57th International Art Exhibition of Venice Biennale (Venice, 2017); Documenta 14 (Athens – Kassel, 2017); Lo Schermo dell’Arte (Firenze, 2017); Dhaka Art Summit (Dhaka, 2018); Manifesta 12 (Palermo, 2018).
