Oscar Padilla is a Barcelona-based artist, researcher and teacher, who has coordinated numerous cultural workshops and seminars. Throughout his career he has held exhibitions both nationally and internationally, with notable shows such as ‘WAIT’ at the Balaguer Gallery in Barcelona and the exhibition ‘Ni Temps Ni Geografia’ at the Institut d’Estudis Catalans in Paris.

His work addresses the concepts of space, surface and matter, shifting their meaning through small gestures. He often transforms the material qualities and conditions of the objects that make up his work into something different and changing.

In 2025, he presents a series of works titled ‘La superficie abraza la estructura’ at the exhibition ‘Irradiaciones, dobles rendijas y celdas cristalinas’ at the MUA (Museum of the University of Alicante). These works function as a series or ensemble, and explore how the repetition of gesture works through combustion.

In the academic sphere, in 2012 he published his doctoral thesis, ‘The Invisibility of Meaning’, and has since been a member of several established research groups such as BRAC: Barcelona, Research, Art and Creation. Currently, he is a member of the group ‘IN>TRA Artistic Practice as a Model of Experience: New Forms and Prototypes in Research Processes’.

His current research is focused on analysing the influence that the new temporal rhythms caused by digitalisation have on biological rhythms. The latest project he is involved in is the ‘Digital Humanities Hub’, a multidisciplinary Catalan network that brings together existing initiatives in the field at the University of Barcelona, where he works with over 200 researchers and more than 40 research groups simultaneously.
