Republic of the imagination

espais c is a programme promoted by the Consorci d’Educació de Barcelona, the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. The entire programme is coordinated and mediated by Fabra i Coats-Centre d’Art and Experimentem amb l’Art, with the participation of the Fundació Suñol, the Museu Tàpies, Hangar, Chiquita Room and La Capella.

he programme, which is aimed at public primary schools in Barcelona, is based on the linking of artists or collectives with these schools. The artists carry out a one-year residency at the school, which also provides the artists with a space where the residency is located.

Ida Barbati (Isernia, Italy, 1990) lived in Barcelona. His training in Visual Arts at the Laba in Florència (2018) and he has completed his six studies with a Master of Arts and Education at the University of Barcelona (2020) and a Master of Philosophy for Contemporary Reptes at the Open University of Catalonia of Barcelona (2022). She is currently a doctoral student at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Barcelona. In his artistic practice he explores different mitjans, in particular the installation, the performative action and the intervention both in images and in public countries.

Boris Mercado (Lima, Peru, 1988) lived in Barcelona. His artistic practice has focused on photography. As a migrant, a large part of his work is focused on resistance and grief due to injustice and diversity and cultural wealth in the world. He has worked on different projects in Latin America, South Africa and New Zealand.
