Warhol & Vijande: Más que pistolas, cuchillos y cruces

Vijande, an exquisite, brilliant and contradictory gentleman, had the magnificent audacity to put Madrid’s art scene on the cultural map of New York in the 1980s, although he also had the vision to understand that the two cities and their cultural circuits were not so different after all.

The documentary Warhol-Vijande: More than Guns, Knives and Crosses tells his story through the people who knew him, the artists who worked with him and the friends who, from Alaska to Miquel Navarro, from Bob Colacello to Christopher Makos, from Fabio McNamara to Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, continue to mourn his untimely passing. To do so, Sebastián Galán, director of the documentary, traces an essential journey that takes his team from New York to Madrid, and from Pittsburgh to Barcelona, to understand all the facets of Fernando Vijande, how his curious relationship with Andy Warhol was forged and the crucial role they both played in the development of Spanish cultural life in the early eighties.
