Una conversación: Chillida y las artes. 1950-1970

2024

Curated by María Bolaños, the exhibition delves into the network of visual connections, conceptual ties and parallel explorations that linked Chillida, in one way or another, with the concerns of the artists of his generation, with the practices of his contemporaries, with the values and trends manifested in the international scene, a scene that is very fertile in disciplinary dialogues between the visual arts and thought, dance, photography, music or film.

It brings together more than a hundred works from more than 30 museums and collections: sculptures, photographs, paintings, choreographies, design, historical documents, scores and films.

The selection includes great masters of the period: Alberto Giacometti, Paul Klee, Barbara Hepworth, Pablo Picasso, Stanley Kubrick, Germaine Richier, Joseph Beuys, Jean Dubuffet, David Smith, Robert Bresson, Merce Cunningham, Lygia Clark, Néstor Basterretxea, Julio González, Robert Motherwell, Marianne Gast, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Simon Hantaï, María Paz Jiménez, Ángel Ferrant, Pierre Boulez, Jean-Luc Godard and Aurelia Muñoz. All of them, in one way or another, are in dialogue with a large group of works by Eduardo Chillida.

The Fundació Suñol collaborates in this exhibition through the loan of works from the Suñol Soler Collection:

Jean Arp. Borgeon sur coupe, 1960

Lucio Fontana. Concetto spaziale. Natura, 1960-1961

Pablo Palazuelo. Ascendente, 1954
