Miralda and Jaume Xifra, Situació Color, 1976
On June 10th, 1976, Josep Suñol requested to Miralda and Jaume Xifra the creation of Situació Color, a party-ritual to celebrate the opening of his new house. To document this event the video Situació Color was made, 22 minutes and in colour, edited from a film in Super 8 by Roberto Mardones.
Situació Color was created by Miralda and Jaume Xifra, and had the special collaboration of Antoni Muntadas, with the installation in the kitchen of his video Retrat de Pep Suñol, and Jaume Sisa performing his song Qualsevol nit pot sortir el sol at the entrance to the home. The event was also supported by Maria Lluïsa Borràs, Fernando Vijande, Gloria Kirby, Galería Vandrés and Casa Semon, bringing together a large number of guests, as can be seen in the video document.
The three floors of the building by architect Josep Lluís Sert, where dressed with the three secondary colours, and the visitors were encouraged to follow a route conceived as an initiation voyage that took place in various of the house spaces. Characters like “the ironing maid”, the “mattress-maker”, the waitresses, the bread-cutter or the singer were also part of the show itself.
The food and the drinks, as well as the event scenery, played a key role in the theme of the party. In fact, the title: Situació Color made evident the will to attract and captivate the guests through the five senses: the view, the smell, the touch, the hearing and the taste.
