The friendship between Josep Suñol and Miralda dates back to the seventies, when Suñol inaugurated his private home with the ritual party Situació color, conceived by Miralda and Jaume Xifra. A few years later, in the early eighties, Miralda and Montse Guillen also participated in the inaugural party of the place where we are now, known as Gallery 2.

After more than forty years, Miralda participates once again in the activation of a space related to our trajectory. In this case with the edition of Cromomà, a gift to celebrate the opening of the new space of Fundació Suñol in the historic Galeria 2, which alludes to the five stages that you will find detailed in the document Cronografia.

Antoni Miralda was born in Terrassa (Barcelona) in 1942. After a stay of two years in Paris and two in London, in 1966 he settled in the French capital until 1972, when he moved to New York. He currently lives between Miami and Barcelona. In the 1960s, together with the so-called “Catalans of Paris” -Joan Rabascall, Jaume Xifra, Benet Rossell and Dorothée Selz-, he staged a series of collective happenings or rituals around the ceremony of the act of eating based on colour and its symbolism. At first with Dorothée Selz and, since 1972, with the curator and gourmand Montse Guillén, he made food the object of his artistic work. Over the years she has developed large installations with a non-conformist, festive, baroque and kitsch language that brings art and life together. In outstanding projects such as Honeymoon Project, a symbolic link between the statue of Columbus in Barcelona and the Statue of Liberty in New York, it uses a universal activity such as food to carry out a deconstruction of prejudices in a now global world. Many of his works promote collective participation and playing and partying. His gastronomic ethnology has earned him wide international recognition. Since 2000, Miralda has focused on the FoodCulturaMuseum, an archive of multiple projects based on research and reflection on gastronomic diversity and its link to the cultures of the planet. Based in Miami and Barcelona, it explores and disseminates the culture of food through audiovisuals, music, books, furniture, objects and all kinds of documents.

We are opening a new space in the district of Les Corts, in the historic Galeria 2. Josep Suñol Collection’s home since the 80’s and place of residence of different artists, it is an important location in our trajectory that connects us with the beginnings to unleash a project of future.

On the occasion of the reopening, we are having a presentation event for the new space with activities to experience the different ways of inhabiting an empty space. We will have specific projects designed for the occasion by Luis Bisbe, Miralda, Mònica Planes, Esther García Barbero, Anna Irina Russell and Sara Fontán.

Come activate the new space!
