Joan Rom

Fora el marc II, 1990

Barcelona, 1954

Joan Rom is a Catalan artist known for his ability to explore the relationships between matter, form and space. His work, which covers various disciplines such as sculpture and installation, is characterized by a sensitivity towards materials, often using industrial or natural elements that he reinterprets from a poetic and minimalist perspective.

With a refined artistic language, Rom invites you to reflect on the balance, emptiness and latent tension between objects. He has exhibited in renowned galleries and institutions, consolidating his career as a unique voice in the contemporary Catalan and international scene. His work stands out for its ability to generate an intimate dialogue with the viewer and the space that surrounds it.

The Suñol Foundation dedicated an individual exhibition to him, E. R. T. where Rom recalls the memory of the object by transforming it and highlighting the essential. The solidity and coherence of his work is evident in the sobriety of forms, materials and resources -including the support bases-, which offer a result well removed from unnecessary noise.
