MUCAC La Coracha ‘Cómo batir la imaginación para que no se corte’
The Suñol Foundation participates in the exhibition “Cómo batir la imaginación para que no se corte. Constelaciones en torno a Rafael Pérez Estrada”
The project brings together more than 150 works, along with a bibliographic and documentary collection, focusing on the figure of Malaga-born creator Rafael Pérez Estrada (1934–2000).
It has been curated by Lidia Bravo and Carmen Juliá.
The exhibition coincides with the 25th anniversary of the author’s death and offers a journey through the creative universe situated between literature and the visual arts, in dialogue with different disciplines and generations. The project also highlights the presence of ten artists from Malaga, establishing connections between Pérez Estrada’s legacy and contemporary creation, from the artistic avant-garde to the 21st century.
Conceived as an “unaddressed” dictionary, the exhibition is divided into six sections, the titles of which are taken from aphorisms and writings by Pérez Estrada himself: Incinerate the poet so that he becomes a cloud; The angel, the accomplice; Dreams are repaired; The word sea is composed of waves; and Imagination: the routes.
The project has involved the participation of numerous prestigious institutions, foundations and public and private collections, such as the Suñol Soler Collection, among many others.
The Suñol Foundation is collaborating in this exhibition by lending the following works from the Suñol Soler Collection:
– Guillermo Pérez Villalta. Éxtasis en la siesta, 1979
– Giacomo Balla. Fiore Futurista, 1916-1930
– Julio González. Máscara ‘Luz y Sombra’, 1934-1935
