Barcelona, 1943

Robert Llimós was born in 1943 in Barcelona. He studied at Escola Massana and at Escola Superior de Belles Arts Sant Jordi de Barcelona. His pictorial career beginnings are along with Nova Figuració, he belongs to this movement among 1965 to 1968. During this period, he is closely bound to artists like Eduard Arranz Bravo, Rafael Bartolozzi o Gerard Sala, but his turn to conceptual art from 1969 disassociates him from these artists.

Even so, Llimós returns to figurative painting from 1973, with a more expressionist style and giving great importance to color. An important event in his work is the alien sighting he experienced in 2009 at Fortaleza’s beach (Brazil). Since then, his paintings revolve around this event, focusing on the figurative representation of this life changing experience.

Until now he has exhibited mainly in Catalonia, as well as around the Spanish state and some important cities like New York, Bucharest or Paris. Some of his works are in important institutions like Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, MACBA or Museo de Arte Moderno do Espirito Santo in Brazil.
