Rosa Amorós

Crani petit negre

Barcelona, 1945

She studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona and also at the Escola Massana, where she taught from 1971 to 2005.

Between 1967 and 1968, she began her artistic activity with her participation in the Joan Miró Prize, and from 1976, for fifteen years she exhibited her work at the René Metràs Gallery. After this period and with the participation in Art Triangle, a conceptual and formal evolution of his artistic production can be appreciated, which will be consolidated in 1991 with the works he carries out for the International Ceramics Studio in Hungary. His work stands out for the sculptural ceramics where he shows expressionist characteristics and an influence of contemporary Asturian ceramics. These sculptures lead the viewer to make a series of reflections and establish a dialogue with the piece. Amorós goal is to create transgressive pieces that evoke the concept of the primitive through earth and fire (elements necessary to make the sculptures).

In 2015 the Fundació Suñol dedicated to her an exhibition ‘Despojos i dèries’, which showed some of the artist’s works that were part of the Suñol Soler Collection along with others from the artist’s personal collection.
